Shoebox Sunday

Shoebox Sunday

Sunday, 17 October

Shoeboxes, already covered in Christmas paper, will be available at the back of church from the last Sunday in September together with labels indicating whether the box is for a girl or a boy and the age for which our gifts are appropriate.

This year, through The Sunflower Fellowship Romania (Charity Registered Number 1090120) we are going to send our boxes to children in various villages around Cataloi, which is about 15 kilometres southwest of the city of Tulcea where the charity runs a home called Casa Valentin which provides a week’s holiday for sick or underprivileged children.  Your help in providing a filled shoe box will make Christmas so much more special for a child you may never meet.  Please think carefully about gifts that would be most appropriate for the age group of the boy or girl you have chosen to fill a box for.  There are boxes and labels available in Church for you to use but if you want to use your own box, it must not be bigger than 30 x 20 x 10 cm (12 x 8 x 4 inches).  Please cover your box with bright Christmas wrapping paper.  The age groups are 3-5 years, 6-9 years, 10-14 years.

You are welcome to enclose a Christmas Card if you wish, but without too much English writing  “Craciun Fericit!” means “Happy Christmas” in Romanian.  You may like to include a photo of you and/or your family.  Please secure the box by placing a strong rubber band around in and put your label in the top right hand corner of the shoe box.  Please choose at least one item from each section below:
